Emily is a native Californian who has a background in Social Service work and Nonprofit Administration. She worked for seven years in Administration and Guest Services for St. Anthony Foundation in San Francisco. After completing her M.A. in International Relations at S.F. State she moved to the East Coast for three years to participate in the New York City Teaching Fellows program, where she taught Global History at a high school in Queens.
Emily has coordinated volunteer activities at soup kitchens in San Francisco, building houses in Tijuana, Mexico, and at a hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has lived and studied in Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro. She speaks Portuguese fluently and can communicate in Spanish (with a little Portunhol). In the Diabetes Hands Foundation she works with volunteers to help connect people and spread awareness.
